From One Foster Family’s Needs to a Community of Support
Supporting Boston-Area Foster Families with Supplies and Essentials
In 2016, a group of moms banded together when one of their own became a foster parent
The reality is, children are often placed last minute and parents aren’t always equipped with the resources needed to take care of the kids in their homes. When one of the first moms in our community should have been focused on preparing her heart, instead, she was overwhelmed, running to the store to grab diapers, clothes, and car seats.
Even with a supportive community, it was hard to get what she needed in time. She knew other foster families must be feeling the same stress, and likely with fewer resources. So what did she do? She called a few friends to brainstorm ways to help, and The Foster Box was born.
The Foster Box Team
Our team is made up of biological, foster, and adoptive parents, social workers, and entrepreneurs with a crew of kids between us! Our availability might be slim, but we know from experience that when a child enters foster care, it’s often with little more than the clothes on their back.
Soft blankets, clean outfits, new toothbrushes, and other essentials allow kids to feel safe and cared for. And we’re here to make sure every family caring for them, feels supported from day one.
We believe everyone and anyone can play a role in caring for children in foster care
Not everyone can be a foster parent, but every person can do something
When you volunteer your time, sort clothing, deliver essentials, or donate funds, you become part of the circle of care that wraps around families in their most tender moments. YOU can be the difference between stress and relief, or uncertainty and readiness. And together WE can remind foster parents that they’re not alone.
Whether you can give a few hours or have the ability to give financially or support via our Amazon wishlist, your support meets urgent needs in our area and build a lasting, supportive community.
